Recently Survival Letterpress had the honor of collaborating with an amazing local Kansas City startup known as The Thank You Initiative. We didn't really know what to expect when we took on the printing for this job, but it's turned out to be one of the greatest experiences we've had and will have in our little letterpress shop. The vision for this initiative seemed pretty grand, but it also seemed like it was something a lot of people could get behind and support. After the Kickstarter launched we quickly realized the support aspect of this was true, as it was 100% backed within just five days of its debut on Kickstarter.
The Thank You Initiative is "a movement to live thankful" and with so much chaos and busyness happening in our lives in this fast-paced world we live in, it's good to understand the importance of slowing down and remembering what and who we are truly thankful for.
How does The Thank You Initiative work?
The Thank You Initiative is a subscription based program where customers can sign up and each month they will receive four thank you cards in the mail, complete with envelopes and a fresh design each month. Designers from all over the country and world will be contributing to the design portion of the initiative and so far there has been some amazing illustrators, designers and hand letterers included in the project.
For the Kickstarter, talent such as Joshua Noom of Florida, Meagan Bennett of New York and Mike Miller (a local Kansas City artist) were featured for the first three designs. It's been an amazing honor to see the work of these incredible artists put on press and letterpress printed and I can't wait to see who else jumps on board.
This project is already fully backed but that doesn't mean it's lost momentum. Everyday there are more and more supporters of this initiative and it's been awesome to watch it grow. If you want to be a part of a movement to live more thankful, take a look at the video and then click on this link -
